Well i thought i better write something here too. I'm dissapointed i didn't get a mention for the least number of posts i think it was one... haha... Kind of wish i got into the whole forum thing, especially after reading your comments.

Sounds like you all had a great time at the Hideout. However it seems we have moved on from the "good old days", just hope other things from our youth don't die out too, like the LAN's.

Farewell

Hey, sorry for the really really late delay, but I just saw right now that the Hideout is closed.

I wanted to come back and post some stuff and look for old memories.
However, as it can be seen that it wasn't active anymore at all, I guess u made the right decision after all.

Anyways, thanks for having this great forum, I really enjoyed, and I hope u get the best out of life ahead of you for both you Rpg Cyco and all other members.

Hehe, yeah, my fat arse PS2 froze twice with a disc read error when playing through MGS2. It works perfectly on my PS3 through.

Unfortunately, Ratchet and Clank runs at about 10 FPS on the PS3. It's totally unplayable. Gran Turismo 4 has a few graphical glitches on the menus, but I don't play it anymore thanks to GT5P. All my other PS2 games work perfectly.

I noticed your site was acting up a few days ago. I remember it worked if I went directly to a post, but the main page is ruined, as you can see.

Haven't I already told you what I thought about Resistance and Uncharted? LOL. Resistance is OK, it's kind of a generic shooter with a mildy interesting story. Uncharted is really really good. It looks amazing, has good voice acting, motion capture, music and is not stupidly difficult.

Didn't get the SOCOM BETA. Is it any good? I'm not really into online shooters, which is why I haven't bought Call of Duty 4. I much prefer to take my time and be more tactical.

Sony has realised it is not financially viable to support 3rd party exclusives as the profits are not good enough. Instead they are focusing on titles developed by studios they own.

However, I would have thought such a big game like Final Fantasy XIII would have been the exception. In some ways, the PS3 is still the best system for Final Fantasy fans as Final Fantasy Versus XIII is still a PS3 exclusive.

I laughed at the Sony logo!

After reading your analysis, I feel like Sony is in damage control. If their motivation is market domination, then you are spot on and they have dropped the ball.

But if they are trying to turn just a small profit on their machine, then this course of action makes sense to me. I imagine that this kind of damage control is about spending less money and using the momentum they already have to make sure the unimpressive performance of their PS3 brand does not cripple their next strategy for other brands(including PS4?).

Unfortunately, if you accept my view, the person who loses out is you: the man who already owns a PS3. If Sony is not defending the brand and encouraging the development of awesome exclusive titles then it's you who is looking at the missed potential and thinking that it could have been better.

Congrats :) Got any thoughts about what you're going to do now?

It's a shame that they weren't able to give you functioning equipment, and then penalized you for it. There is a thinking there that is fundamentally flawed. I can't even articulate what is wrong with it, but it just seems like a corruption of responsible education.

I've been reading a bit about recent educational styles in the west. One criticism that academics make about some aspects of education is that it doesn't equip students with a common vocabulary that allows us to communicate with a basic, implied level of knowledge. Basically, it means that a student might be taught how to read the manual for a specific piece of technology, but be unable to generalize that knowledge to other manuals because they lack the broad common knowledge about computers and computer architecture that is common to both manuals.

I guess I'm wondering, do you think the TAFE course teaches people to learn computers and networking? Do you feel like it taught you how to use some specific techologies, without an emphasis on generalizing those skills? Did it achieve a balance between those two aspects of learning?

It kind of sucks that my reply is like 1/10th "that's awesome", and 9/10ths "what went wrong". I kind of get an impression that you rightly aren't too impressed with the opportunities TAFE offered you. Lets talk about it a little!
